What to Expect

Starting counselling can feel daunting. My aim is to make the process as safe and transparent as possible. First contact We begin with a free, no-obligation 10-minute telephone consultation to briefly explore what’s bringing you to therapy, answer your

questions and see if we’re a good fit.

Assessment & goals

In our first few sessions, we gently map out what you’re hoping to gain from therapy – whether that’s coping better day-to-day, understanding your past, or changing unhelpful patterns.

The sessions
You’re in control of the pace. There is no “right way” to do therapy. We might:

Explore thoughts, feelings and body sensations

Notice recurring patterns in relationships

Build tools for grounding, self-soothing and boundary-setting

Give space to parts of you that have been silenced or ignored

Ethical & safe practice -
I work in line with professional ethical frameworks (such as BACP/NCPS), with regular clinical supervision, clear boundaries and a strong focus on safeguarding and client wellbeing.
